Mariana Zinna | English Corner OPEN

Mariana Zinna

My name is Mariana and I live with my family in the countryside of central Argentina surrounded by the natural beauty of the Calamuchita Mountains. Since I can remember, I have always loved Nature, people, communication and art. Because of that passion, for years, I travelled, lived and worked in many parts of the globe experiencing and trying to learn about different ways of human as well as environmental expression. I have a degree in English from the National University of Córdoba and have also formally studied science and humanities in Argentina and abroad. Since 1997, I have been running an English centre in a small multicultural community where I have the privilege of teaching children, teens and adults. We usually work together for many years in a very creative, engaging and committed way which encourages teaching and learning and creates loving bonds. It brings me great joy to support the process of people’s expression in English ensuring international language standards and stimulating personal freedom.

A profound belief in the inherent generosity we all share and in the idea that the vitality of individual freedom is collective has moved me to open this humble space. I hope we may inspire each other to express or discover our genuine interests, what we really value, what we most enjoy, and –Why not?- allow them to guide us in life.

Jeremias Dutto

My name is Jeremias Dutto and I am 22 years old. I am very interested in everything related to nature and human physiology. I am about to get a degree on biological science from the National University of Córdoba and I am currently research assistant in the department of molecular biophysics and biochemistry for the Institute of Biological and Technological Research (IIBYT-CONICET). In that context, we are carrying out research on the biophysics of neuronal cellular membrane. Besides my passion for science, I love art, especially music, films and circus acrobatics; I also do artistic gymnastics.

It is very exciting for me to be part of this blog; I really like English and I believe it is a powerful tool in so many ways; for example, for travelling and learning about other cultures -which is something I would love to do.  I am really looking forward to finding the amazing things, new points of view and different life experiences others will share and I hope I can also offer interesting stuff to inspire our curiosity.

Nina Haynal

My name is Nina Haynal and I am 20 years old. I am studying Fine Arts at the National University of Córdoba and I am passionate about it. I feel absolutely thrilled when I begin to alter the pale white of the paper with abundant colours. I have been in contact with art since I was a very little child. I play the flute, dance and act; but my heart is in the visual arts and that is why I am fully committed to develop this language as much as I can. At the moment, I am in the process of learning about and experimenting printmaking –It is fascinating!
I also enjoy expressing myself in English because, as a second language, it gives me the possibility of thinking reality in a new framework. My interest in learning English is an ongoing experience –challenging, at times- I think it is the language for global communication and I hope for global understanding. I am very happy to participate in this space that is open to people from around the world and it is a place where we can express ourselves in very different ways but using a common language.

Manuel Rivero

My name is Manuel, I am 21 years old and I was born in Córdoba, Argentina. I have always loved art in its different expressions; I’m a singer and a guitarist and I like drawing but what I enjoy the most is writing. I write for an online magazine and in a personal blog. I would also love to write a novel or a script for a movie because I really like films too. Once a month, I do stand-up shows and I am very keen on humour, usually dark.

I am currently studying Social Communication at the National University of Córdoba; I am in the fourth year. I have been very close to the English language since my childhood, when I started studying with Mariana. From then on, I have always kept this language as an important part of my life; I love reading books, watching films and TV shows in English. However, the most important factor that determines my love for this language is that English works as a global language; and that offers a huge advantage for any type of communication. That is why I want to be in this blog, because I believe that expression and art are full of beauty. And if we can share our expression with people from different parts of the world and we can understand each other, I think we are creating art and communication in the most beautiful way.

Rafael Hofmann

I am Rafael and I am 17. My plans for the future are travelling and studying. I’d love to engage in volunteering work around the world and also in photographic projects which are some of my passions. I enjoy watching films with my family and then talking about what we saw. Besides, I like reading, mainly, detective stories and dystopian fiction -dystopian novels depict a very negative view of the future; I think  they are great because they can help us chose a change of direction. I'm also keen on music, specially rock and blues from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.

I started studying English because I think it is a very useful language for global communication and  I really like the idea of this blog because, here, we can share with others Post&PicKs that are stimulating and help us believe in the beautiful and interesting things of life.

Cynthia Freire

My name is Cynthia Freire and I live in Villa General Belgrano, Argentina. I have a degree on Pharmacy from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and four years of Psychology at the National University of Córdoba (UNC).

I am married and have two boys. At present, I run a touristic resort in the mountains of Córdoba.  I love reading and travelling; besides, I like meeting people from other cultures and learning about their ways. I believe that English is essential for global communication and I enjoy studying it.

Laura Lluis

I'm Laura and I'm 51 years old. I’m from Buenos Aires but 10 years ago I moved to the province of Córdoba where I live  in a beautiful village  with my family; my husband and two sons who are in their 20’s.

I have a pottery workshop where I produce handcraft tiles for walls and floors. I enjoy designing and going through all the creative process, from the clay dust to the color glazes and the baking.

I've always been interested in social issues and have a degree in Social Development from the University of Luján where I worked as a teacher and researcher. When I moved to the province I discovered new perspectives about society and human beings. I nurtured my interest in emotions and feelings, and got certified at Bach Center in Flower Remedies. Nowadays, I'm learning about personal development.

A few years ago, I took up my English studies again. I've realized that commanding English is an important asset to develop my new interests; besides, I think, English helps us make the most of our life in a globalized world.

When Mariana, my teacher, invited me to participate in this blog I felt an old dream of mine could come true... the dream of making my contribution to unity, friendship, brotherhood. It's wonderful to think that different people from around the world would meet here, sharing this dream, trying to add, as pieces of a puzzle, to a better life.

Nahuel Tufró

I live in the mountains of Córdoba in Argentina with my beautiful girlfriend Mailen and our dog Nala. I am an entrepreneur and what I most enjoy about my job is making it easy for people to realize their ideas. I am 28 and I have been involved in creative projects of graphic and web design, photography, video, music and sound production for more than 10 years now.

I really like working in the development of this blog. Mariana is a kind person, and this idea of generosity and collaboration she is proposing reminds me of the time when I was involved in the free software community. Because both projects have to do with what I believe is an open-minded way of working together in the creation of a kinder world.
